SURA Asset MANAGEMENT was established in 2011 as an affiliate of Grupo SURA, and as part of the acquisition of the assets owned by ING, in the Pensions, Life Insurance, and Investment Funds business in Chile, Colombia, México, Perú and Uruguay. The acquisition was completed on December 29, 2011. But this story goes back to the early 1980’s when Chile implemented the individual annuities system with the establishment of Sociedad Administradora de Fondos de Pensiones Santa María S.A., currently AFP Capital. Several important milestones took place during the years that followed, which led to the international operation that is now SURA Asset Management, which is present in Chile, Colombia, México, Perú, Uruguay, and El Salvador.
